Name Idea Box API

The Name Idea Box API is a free, public REST API for fictional names and sample identity data. It does not require an API key. Responses are JSON and can be called from server-side code, scripts, prototypes, and browser applications.

Generated values are fictional placeholders. Do not use them to impersonate people, create accounts, pass verification, or conduct transactions.

Base URL

https://www.nameideabox.com

All endpoints support GET query parameters and POST JSON bodies. GET is convenient for quick tests and POST is recommended when building an integration.

Rate limits

The public service allows up to 60 requests per minute per client address on each endpoint. The response includes X-RateLimit-Limit, X-RateLimit-Remaining, and X-RateLimit-Reset headers. A 429 response includes Retry-After.

Common response shape

Successful responses wrap the endpoint result in data:

{
  "data": {}
}

Errors use a stable error.code and a human-readable error.message. Invalid fields may be listed in details.
